Backup Transportation When Plans Change
Alaska travel plans can fall apart quickly when a flight is delayed, a train connection is missed, a bus schedule no longer works, or cruise timing changes. Alaska Rural Transit may provide private group transportation when availability allows and the trip can be completed safely.

Private Service, Not Shared Shuttle Recovery
Trips are reserved for your group only and are not shared shuttle rides or fixed-schedule transit. This can be helpful when your schedule no longer matches a standard shuttle, train, bus, or cruise connection.

Common Delay and Connection Problems
Travelers may need backup transportation after delayed flights, missed train connections, missed bus connections, cruise timing issues, late arrivals, early departures, changed lodging plans, or itinerary changes that leave a group without a reliable ride.

Common Routes After Travel Disruptions
Common backup transportation routes may include Anchorage ↔ Talkeetna, Anchorage ↔ Denali, Talkeetna ↔ Denali, Anchorage ↔ Whittier, Anchorage ↔ Seward, and other selected Alaska destinations by request.

What to Include When Calling or Requesting a Quote
For time-sensitive travel, provide your current location, destination, number of passengers, luggage or gear details, flight number if applicable, updated arrival time, train or bus schedule issue, cruise timing details, and any hard deadlines.

Same-Day and Urgent Travel
Same-day transportation may be available depending on driver availability, route, timing, weather, road conditions, passenger count, luggage, and safety considerations. For urgent same-day travel, call (907) 560-5596 before submitting a quote request.

Luggage, Gear, and Passenger Count
Passenger capacity depends on passenger count, luggage, gear, and available space. Tell us about suitcases, backpacks, coolers, fish boxes, skis, expedition gear, instruments, oversized items, or special luggage needs when requesting transportation.

Weather, Road, and Safety Conditions
Flight delays and missed connections are often connected to weather, traffic, road conditions, construction, closures, or other travel problems. Alaska Rural Transit may delay, reroute, reschedule, decline, or cancel transportation if a trip cannot be completed safely or reasonably.

Transportation Only
Alaska Rural Transit provides transportation only. We do not control airline schedules, Alaska Railroad schedules, bus schedules, cruise line schedules, port operations, tunnel timing, hotel reservations, or third-party transportation providers.

Rates and Reservations
Rates shown on the Rates & Routes page are standard published fares. Card payments are accepted at the standard published fare. A 5% cash discount is available when the remaining balance is paid by cash or another approved non-card payment method.

How Booking Works
Submitting a quote request does not reserve transportation. A reservation is confirmed only after Alaska Rural Transit reviews the request, accepts the trip, and receives the required deposit or prepayment.
