What type of transportation does Alaska Rural Transit provide?
Alaska Rural Transit provides private group charter transportation. Trips are reserved for your group only. This is not a shared shuttle service and does not operate on fixed shuttle schedules.

Does submitting a quote request reserve transportation?
No. Submitting a quote request does not reserve transportation.
A reservation is confirmed only after Alaska Rural Transit reviews the request, accepts the trip, and receives the required deposit or prepayment.


How do I request a trip?
Submit a quote request through the website or call Alaska Rural Transit directly. Include your pickup location, drop-off location, travel date, pickup time or time window, passenger count, luggage or gear details, and any special travel needs.

What are the primary routes?
Primary routes include:
Anchorage ↔ Talkeetna
Anchorage ↔ Denali

Additional destinations may be available by request depending on route, timing, availability, passenger count, luggage, weather, road conditions, and safety considerations.


Where can I see destinations served?
The Destinations page lists commonly served destinations and special travel needs. If your destination is not listed, you may still submit a quote request.

Where can I see prices?
Published rates are listed on the Rates & Routes page. Rates shown are standard published fares for private group transportation.
Rates may change if the requested route, pickup location, drop-off location, timing, passenger count, luggage, stops, or trip details change.


Are rates per person or per trip?
Rates are private group fares, not per-person shuttle fares.

Do you accept card payments?
Yes. Card payments are accepted at the standard published fare.

Is there a cash discount?
Yes. A 5% cash discount is available when the remaining balance is paid by cash or another approved non-card payment method.
The cash discount applies only to eligible non-card payments. It does not apply to card payments, deposits paid by card, or payments already processed by card.


Is a deposit required?
Yes. Standard reservations require a 50% deposit to confirm the trip.
Same-day trips and special-event dates require full prepayment to confirm.


Are deposits refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations made within 72 hours of the scheduled pickup time.

What happens if I do not show up?
A no-call / no-show results in forfeiture of the deposit.
The customer remains responsible for the remaining balance of the trip. For full details, review the Refund & Cancellation Policy.


Do you offer same-day transportation?
Same-day transportation may be available depending on schedule, route, driver availability, road conditions, and safety considerations.

Do special-event dates require different payment?
Yes. Same-day trips and special-event dates require full prepayment to confirm. Special-event dates may include Salmonfest, Alaska State Fair, Girdwood Forest Fair, and other high-demand travel dates identified during the quote or reservation process.

Can I request a stop during the trip?
One complimentary stop up to 1 hour may be available on qualifying routes. Stop requests must be discussed before the trip is confirmed.
Additional stops, longer stops, or route changes may require a revised quote.


How many passengers can ride?
Passenger capacity depends on the vehicle, passenger count, luggage, gear, and trip details. Some trips may allow up to 6 passengers depending on luggage and available space.
Tell us about all luggage, backpacks, coolers, fish boxes, skis, expedition gear, instruments, or oversized items when requesting a quote.


Can Alaska Rural Transit help with flight delays or missed connections?
Yes, when availability allows. Alaska Rural Transit may be able to help with transportation after delayed flights, missed train or bus connections, cruise timing issues, or changed travel plans.

Can trips be affected by weather or road conditions?
Yes. Alaska travel can be affected by weather, road conditions, closures, traffic, vehicle issues, safety concerns, and events outside Alaska Rural Transit’s control.
When necessary, Alaska Rural Transit may delay, reroute, reschedule, or cancel service for safety or operational reasons.


What if my destination is not listed?
Submit a quote request. Some trips may be possible by special request depending on route, timing, availability, passenger count, luggage, weather, road conditions, and safety considerations.

How do I confirm a reservation?
A reservation is confirmed only after Alaska Rural Transit accepts the trip and receives the required deposit or prepayment.
